BPT general regulations

BPT  2025/26 season

This year, the Barcelona Pool Tour is aimed at the most demanding and committed players. We offer a competition for those who understand that billiards is a real sport, where only the best prevail. And yes, we know this might not be the smartest marketing move—since many prefer to avoid facing the strongest rivals out of fear of losing—but this event is different.

We provide a space for those who live and breathe pool as a sport, not just as a hobby. We want brave players, players who work hard, who strive to improve by competing against the best, who are not afraid of defeat, and who know that the only way to progress is through fighting, training, and competing.

If that’s you, this is your tournament.
Welcome to the new BPT project.

Here are the regulations for the BPT 9Ball Tour 2025/26:

At 13:00h on Friday registrations will close. The draw will be made no later than Friday night.

3 · tournament format

All events consist of a maximum of 40* players (depending on the venue) and a minimum of 16.
(In the case that there are more than 40 players, two separate brackets could be played in two venues simultaneously, sharing the general ranking, with a minimum of 48 players required).

It is played in European Double KO format.

The Direct KO is from:

  • 16 players – 16/4. First matches at 10:00h.
  • 17 to 24 players – 24/8. First matches at 09:00h.
  • 25 to 32 players – 32/16. First matches at 09:00h.
  • 33 to 40 players – 48/16. First matches at 09:00h.

The schedules may be shifted depending on the number of participants and/or the venue.

The players classified from the losers’ side will be drawn into the Direct KO.

From the 2nd event onwards there will be 4 seeded players.

The organization reserves the right to postpone any event if the minimum of 16 registrations is not reached, and in this case, the entry fee will be refunded to the players who request it.

4 · discipline and races

9BallWinner Break (Matchroom) – 9 foot tables.

Best of 11 racks (race to 6) for winners, and best of 9 racks (race to 5) for losers.

The organization reserves the authority to extend or reduce the race lengths in the interest of the competition.

5 · prize money
 and final pot

Up to 24 players: prizes will be awarded to the Top 4 finishers and to the best non-Master player (provided that they have reached the final bracket).

From 25 players onwards: prizes will be awarded to the Top 8 finishers and to the best non-Master player (provided that they have reached the final bracket).

From the total amount of entry fees, the salary of the sporting director, the trophies, and the venue rental will be deducted.

From the remaining total to be distributed in prizes after expenses, 10% will be reserved for the finals.

6 · ranking and finals

The final may be played by the players who have participated in a minimum of 3 events, and the bracket will be made with absolute seeds, counting the 5 best results from the general ranking.

In the case of a tie on points, the priority will be:

  1. Number of events played.
  2. Result in the last event.
  3. Head-to-head matches between the players involved (all those who have played against each other in the events).
  4. Difference of racks won/lost in head-to-head matches between the players involved (all those who have played against each other in the events).

Points System

Champion – 550 points.
Finalist – 480 points.
3rd and 4th – 420 points.
5th to 8th – 370 points.
9th to 12th – 330 points.
13th to 16th – 300 points.
17th to 24th – 280 points.
25th to 32nd – 270 points.
33rd to 48th – 260 points.

If there are free spots in the final bracket, and a player who has not played the circuit wants to play it, they must pay the equivalent of a minimum of 3 events plus a penalty of 150€. In the case that they have already played some event, this event will be deducted from the mentioned amount.

7 · refereeing and doubtful shots

Players must call the referee before executing the shot when there are delicate game situations. This function may be carried out by any player in the venue as long as both players involved agree.

The decision of the referee will be irrevocable. If this decision is not accepted, it will be considered unsportsmanlike conduct and the player will be eliminated from the tournament without the right to a refund of the entry fee.

If there is any situation in which there is no agreement between the two players, the organization will have the highest authority in the final decision, and this will be irrevocable.

8 · dress code

Polo shirt or plain shirt or club shirt, long trousers of a single color (non-sports shorts will be accepted when the organization informs so), but sports trousers, torn or worn trousers, or trousers with studs or side pockets will not be accepted. Closed footwear (sandals will not be accepted).

In no case may anything be worn over the polo or shirt, only a sports jacket will be accepted (with the badge of the club, the circuit, or the sponsor; sweatshirts or common tracksuit jackets will not be accepted), or a long-sleeve undershirt beneath the polo.

Infractions in clothing will be penalized:
The first time with 25€. If the sporting director communicates an infraction, this must be paid before starting the match.
In the following events, any player who has been penalized for inadequate clothing in previous events and is not correctly uniformed will not be allowed to play, even by paying the penalty, and will not have the right to a refund of the entry fee.

9 · non-show (30 minutes)

Players must be ready to play their match 30 minutes before the assigned time (except for the first round of tables of the day, in which case they must be present 10 minutes before the time indicated in the bracket).

If a player is not present at the moment the match is assigned and called to the table, the penalty will be:
5 minutes late = 1 rack for the opponent
10 minutes = 2 racks
15 minutes = 3 racks
At 20 minutes, the match is lost.

(the sporting director of the BPT is the only one who has the authority not to apply this rule in certain cases for reasons he considers appropriate).

The player who arrives late to his match loses the right to warm up and the right to the opening break.

The penalty time for lateness begins at the moment the table is assigned.

If the opponent does not show up, the player who is present at the table wins the match with the result of 0 to -1.

If a player is eliminated in the winners’ group of the double KO, he will move to the losers. If he was already in the losers’ side, he will be disqualified.

If it happens that both players of the same match do not show up, the match will be awarded to the player who arrives first at the venue, always before moving on to the next round of the bracket. If neither shows up, it will be decided who goes through as the winner by means of a draw (rule necessary for Cue Score bracket ranking).

10 · shot clock

To better control the duration of the event, a shot clock may be implemented at any time, during or at the beginning of a match. This decision will be made by the Sporting Director and cannot be requested by the players (they can comment on it so that it may be take into consideration).

If the time regulation is applied, players will have 30 seconds to make their shot. Each player has one 30-second extension available per rack, which can be requested verbally at any time within the initial 30 seconds by the player and must be acknowledged by the referee.

For the first shot after the break or after a Push Out, players will have 60 seconds available. A player may request to clean the cue ball during a rack, but the shot clock will not stop unless the referee considers it necessary.

When the time rule is applied, the player will be warned 10 seconds before their time runs out.

The clock will start when all balls stops and will end at the moment the tip of the cue makes contact with the cue ball, or when the player’s time has expired. If a player runs out of time it will be considered a standard foul.

11 · template rack

Matchroom break (forward rack).
The 1 ball in front and the 9 ball in the center of the diamond on the spot. The balls will be placed closer to the short rail randomly and will be positioned from the outside towards the inside.

12 · warm-up

Each player will have 5 minutes of warm-up before starting their first match of the day.
In the first round of the Direct KO, as well as in the semifinals and the final, the players still in competition will again have 5 minutes of warm-up each before starting their matches.

13 · during play

During Play, the non-shooting player must remain seated.

If the player does not remain in his chair, the following penalties will be applied:
1st time, warning;
2nd time, loss of rack;
3rd time, loss of match.

These infractions are cumulative within the same day.

Only the use of talc is permitted, with moderation, and as long as it does not stain the cloth or the table, and does not influence the reaction of the balls.

14 · time out

One time-out is allowed for each player per match. The duration of the time-out is 5 minutes.

The time-out can only be requested between racks.

The opponent must remain seated as in normal play. If he decides to get up, he will be considered to have used his time-out at the same time and will not be granted another one.

This time-out must be notified by the player who needs it to the referee or the sporting director. If he does not do so, he will be given a warning, and the next time it happens it will result in loss of rack.

Any player who has a medical condition requiring an exception to this rule must inform the tournament director before the event begins.

15 · electronic devices

The use of mobile phones, headphones, and/or any electronic device is strictly prohibited during the match (except during time-outs).

The phone must be on silent, and if it rings it will be considered as being used.

If the mobile phone is used during the match, the following penalties will apply:
1st time, loss of rack.
2nd time, loss of match (cumulative throughout the entire day).

16 · companions and audience

It is strictly forbidden to talk to third parties during matches.
If this happens:
1st time, warning.
2nd time, loss of rack.
3rd time, loss of match.

Companions are not allowed in the players’ playing area, nor may they speak to them while they are in a match.

17 · end of the match – results

The winning player is responsible for reporting the result of the match immediately at the end of the encounter and, if possible, in order to speed up the tournament, before packing up their cues.

If the result is not reported and there is an error in the bracket, the bracket will remain as it is.

Players must remove anything they have brought to the table (cues, chalks, drinks, papers, etc.) as soon as possible.

18 · unsportsmanlike conduct

The rules and regulations give the referee and the sporting director the authority to sanction any unsportsmanlike conduct.

Several factors may be considered in such decisions, including previous behavior, prior warnings, the seriousness of the infraction, etc.

In the BPT competition, unsportsmanlike conduct will be sanctioned as follows:

Minor infractions – First warning: loss of rack; second warning: elimination from the tournament without the right to a refund of the entry fee or to prizes.

Serious infractions – Immediate elimination from the tournament without the right to a refund of the entry fee or to prizes.

The criterion of the BPT Sporting Director shall prevail in any situation, and he will decide what constitutes a minor or serious infraction.

19 · xtra” regulations

Matches are assigned by bracket order and table availability, and they may be altered for the proper functioning of the event or for streaming reasons.

Players who wish to leave the venue must check the bracket on Cue Score in order to control the schedule of their next match, and there will be no waiting time allowed, not even for meals.

When tables are free, players may not shoot balls. If this happens, the following penalties will apply:
1st time, warning.
2nd time, loss of the rack of the match currently being played or of the next one if none is being played.
3rd time, elimination from the tournament without the right to a refund or to prize money.

If there are free tables in the venue and they will not be used for the competition, their management will depend exclusively on the venue, and if any player wishes to use them, they must rent them according to the rates of the establishment.

The organization is only responsible for matches in the official bracket.

20 · right of admision

The organization is subject to the right of admission of the venues where the events are held.

The organization has the authority to remove from the competition any player who shows inappropriate or disrespectful behavior towards other attendees (both inside and outside the table), the equipment, and/or the venue.

21 · addicional regulations

The organization has the option to add additional regulations prior to each event if strictly necessary, and these will be communicated to the players during the presentation of the event at the beginning of the event.

22 · acceptance of the regulations

At the moment of registering for the Barcelona Pool Tour, the player acknowledges having read these general regulations and commits to complying with them.

Not being aware of them does not exempt the player from complying under any circumstance.
